SIGNS OF STUTTERING
Stuttering is a speech fluency disorder that affects approximately 2.5% of pre-school children and 1% of school-age children and adults. That may not seem like a lot, but it is significantly more than other disorders such as Autism that impacts approximately 1.5% of children.

Young children are highly disfluent as they learn to speak. However, disfluencies associated with stuttering are different than typical developmental disfluencies. See the chart below to learn more about atypical disfluencies and the “Red Flags” that increase the likelihood of stuttering.

If your child has been showing signs of stuttering for more than a few months, it is recommended to talk to a speech therapist. See our stuttering therapy page to see how we can help.
